Pack License
The short version. A pack is a set of scenes and the vector art in them. You license it; you do not buy it. You can perform it with cueVJ as much as you like, anywhere, including at paid shows. You cannot copy it out, share it, sell it, or run it in anything other than cueVJ. If a copy leaks, the bundle tells us whose it was.
1. What this license covers
This license applies to every pack served by cueVJ: packs from the store, trial packs, packs we grant to an account, and private client packs unlocked with an access phrase. "Pack" means the scenes, the scene code, the vector art, the images, the palettes and the names that ship in it, any update to it, and anything derived from it.
It does not cover the cueVJ engine or the scenes that ship free in the playground, which are published on GitHub under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. It does not cover your own cue sheets, which are yours.
2. What you may do
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, worldwide license to:
- load and perform the pack inside cueVJ (the playground, Studio, cue sheets) on any device you sign in on or unlock;
- perform it live, for free or for money, at shows, streams, events and installations;
- record or stream your performance and publish that recording, meaning the moving picture that came out, not the pack;
- put its scenes in your cue sheets alongside anything else you hold.
3. What you may not do
- Copy, download, extract or save the pack, or any part of it, outside cueVJ.
- Share it, give it away, lend it, sell it, rent it, sublicense it, or make it available to anyone else.
- Use the scenes, code or vector art in other software, in another VJ tool, as assets in a video editor, or in anything you sell.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or de-minify the served bundle in order to do any of the above.
- Remove, hide or alter a watermark or a license notice.
- Share a sign-in or an access phrase to give someone else the pack.
- Bypass or interfere with the entitlement checks.
"Performing" means the engine drawing the pack live. Rendering its scenes out on their own (as loops, stills or assets) to use or distribute separately is not performing and is not allowed. When we add export features, they will come with their own terms.
4. Watermarking
Every pack bundle we serve carries an invisible mark tied to the account, or the device, it was served to. It changes nothing about how the pack runs and collects nothing. If a pack turns up where it should not, the mark tells us which account it came from, and that account loses its packs under section 7.
5. How long it lasts
- A pack you bought, or that we granted to your account, is licensed for as long as your account exists and this license has not been ended. It does not expire, and it stays even if the pack leaves the store.
- A trial pack is licensed for the length of the trial, once per pack per account.
- A private pack unlocked with an access phrase is licensed on that device for 24 hours from the last time the phrase was entered. After that, enter it again.
- We may update a pack. The update replaces the old version under the same license.
6. Private client packs
A private pack is made for one client and is not in the store. The client, and the crew running the client's shows, may use the access phrase for those shows. The client must keep the phrase private and tell us if it leaks, so we can rotate it.
If a client supplied their own artwork for the pack, the client keeps every right in that artwork. This license covers the scenes and code we built around it. Any further rights in a client pack are set out in the written agreement for that pack, if there is one.
7. Ending the license
The license ends if you break it or if your account is closed. We will tell you why. When it ends you must stop performing the pack and delete any copy you have. Refunds follow the Terms of Service; a license we end because of a breach is not refunded.
8. Ownership
Packs are protected by copyright and other laws. We, and the artists who made the art, keep every right we do not expressly give you here. cueVJ and the pack names are our marks.
9. Other uses
If you want to do something this license does not allow (bundle a pack with something you sell, use its art outside cueVJ, license it for a team or a venue), write to ronny@cuevj.com. Most things are possible with a conversation.
